1985-2000: Stereoscopic film and video evangelist/cameraman documenting the beauty of Maui, Hawaii.
1990: Co-exhibitor with Michael Starks, launching 3DTV Corporation at CES, Las Vegas. 3DTV Corp. made the front page of the Wall Street Journal by introducing the first home 3DTV system with LCD shutter glasses and 3D movies on VHS tape at the 1990 CES.
1992-1996: Independent researcher at Maui High Performance Computing Center.
1995-1996: Principal Investigator, independent research project incubated at the MHPCC.
This joint effort involves MHPCC, Silicon Graphics, and the Maui Scientific Analysis & Visualization of the Environment Program. Developed one of the first internet-based 3D virtual reality GIS sites.
1996-1998: First registered domain NKO.ORG and continued research with a network of seven SGI workstations at an independent lab within the Maui Research & Technology Center
Pioneered live streaming using QuickTime, MPEG, and RealVideo with a network of X-servers offsite and a LAN of high-performance SGI workstations.
2002: Maui became the stage for the first wireless live streaming video using off-site Apple X-servers, laptops in the lab, and the field, utilizing Maui Sky Fiber’s 3G technology. We continued this innovation with USB modems and even live streaming on iPhone 3G.
2015: Documenting Permafrost Research:
We collaborated with the UAF Geophysical Institute Permafrost Lab, supporting laboratory and field research in Fairbanks, Alaska, utilizing scientific HD & panoramic imagery.
Broadcast the first live 360 panoramic video at the Permafrost Laboratory with Dr. Vladimir E. Romanovsky, Dr. Alexander L. Kholodov & Dr. Sergey Marchenko.
Beyond Broadcasting: Disaster Response and Research
The Maui S.A.V.E. Program expanded its work to include:
Storm Tracking: We analyze large datasets, wind speed probabilities from the National Hurricane Center.
Disaster Relief: I volunteer with disaster relief organizations, including the American Red Cross.

Since 1992, I’ve envisioned Maui, Hawaii, as a global hub for environmental science. Inspired by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s visit, this vision now encompasses establishing Maui as a center for peace efforts.
