Every year hundreds of people — mostly women — are attacked with acid in Pakistan.

Today is the first time I learned about [Katie](http://www.katiepiperfoundation.org.uk/meet-katie/ "Meet Katie") and her work to extended rehabilitation and scar management for burns survivors, to provide information on and access to non-surgical treatments for burns and scars, and to campaign for consistent clinical care and develop a support network for people living with burns and disfigurement. One cannot help but be moved to tears initially and perhaps be inspired to change the illusion of how beauty is perceived.
